Recycling: The Glittergasm Christmas Bulb

Hello.
We finally have internet, so I am wired in
and ready to share some new projects with you!
I have decided that there are a lot of recycling
projects for us to do in this holiday season.

I have shared candle making with you
Scrap fabric wreathe making,
and today: tadadadaaaaaa! Glittergasm Christmas Bulbs.

All you'll need:

Craft glue- I used Martha Stewart Glitter Glue available at Micheal's
Brush for spreading glue
Old Christmas Bulbs
Fine glitter- I also used Martha Stewart's Glitter
Pan

All you'll need to do:

First, find that christmas bulb that's ready for glitterfying and cover with glue.

Sprinkle glitter onto your sticky bulb.

Hang to dry!

I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving and a good workout on Friday!

On the winter winds a blowin and some good ideas on copin...

Hello.

I don't know if I'm a huge fan of winter.
Last winter is when I made craft night with my friends
because it was an easy way to make the most of staying inside.
Now that its a new year of psuedo-hibernation,
I am trying to think of some new ways to keep myself occupied.

We are painting, and judging by the way its been going,
we might actually be done in the spring.

I would like to reach a goal of 60 items to post upon opening an Etsy by February.

I think cooking is a double whammy, heat for the house, extra pounds on the belly- everybody is warm and happy.

Yoga classes to give me some interaction with the rest of the human race.

Books books books. So far I am working on "Into the Wild", "Call of the Wild", "The Little Prince", and "Green Glass Sea".

What do you do to cope with winter?

On an easy crafty treat!

Howdy!
Wanna do an easy-shmeazy craft?
I tried this easy wreath last week and it was a great way
to get rid of scrap fabric.

All you'll need is:
A wire hanger (If you have an old grimy basement- Look there)
Multiple colors of scrap fabric, the more you have, the fuller the wreath.
Fabric
A ribbon for hanging

All you'll need to do is:

Begin by shaping the wire hanger into a circle.
(I twisted the ends together, but don't worry about the ends sticking out a little bit, they will be covered with the fabric.)
Oh, and don't you worry if it's not the best circle,
the fabric will mask the bumps and bends.

After your circular craftsmanship is completed,
begin cutting 1 inch X 6 inch strips of fabric from the scraps.

(I alternated this step with the next one because my hands got so tired from cutting)

Next, begin tying the strips onto the wire.

Now that you are ready to hang, add a ribbon or simple hang wreath directly onto a nail or hook on your door.

Happy "wreathing".

On Ginger Biscotti

Hello.
:)

My idea of creating the perfect temperature in my house
is by opening the windows,
turning on the oven
and then combining the smells of baking
with the crisps smells of fall.

I have been trying some new recipes
and nothing makes me feel like running and jumping into a big pile of leaves like ginger biscotti.

Now, biscotti may sound intimidating but it really is so
very easy to make.

All you'll need is:
No stick Cooking Spray
1 (18.25 oz.) package  Golden Butter Cake
1 cup All Purpose Flour + some for your hands
2 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons grated lime peel
1/2 cup butter, melted and slightly cooled
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped macadamia nuts
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 tablespoon Butter Flavored Crisco® Shortening

All you'll need to do is:
First, Heat your oven to 350°F. Position rack in center of oven. Spray cookie sheet with no-stick cooking spray.

Next, put the cake mix, flour, ginger, lime peel, melted butter, eggs and macadamia nuts in large mixing bowl. Blend 1 to 2 minutes with an electric mixer on low speed until well blended, scraping bowl often (don't you worry, the dough is going to be stiff).

After that, move the dough to prepared cookie sheet. With floured hands, shape dough into two rectangles, each 14-inches long by 3-inches wide by 3/4-inch thick, about 4 to 5 inches apart on sheet. Mound the dough so it is slightly higher in the center than at the edges.
Now you are ready to bake 30 to 35 minutes or until firm to touch. Remove from oven and cool on sheet for 10 minutes, but don't you turn that oven off! :)
Next, cut each rectangle into 3/4-inch slices on the diagonal using a sharp kitchen knife, while still on cookie sheet. Carefully turn slices onto their sides. Return cookie sheet to oven.
Now, stick 'em back in the oven for an additional 10 minutes. Turn oven off and let biscotti remain in oven until crisp; 30 to 40 minutes. Remove from oven and transfer biscotti onto a rack. Cool completely.

As a finale, place white chocolate chips and shortening in a microwaveable bowl. Microwave 30 seconds on medium high. Stir. Microwave another 30 seconds on medium high. Stir. If necessary, microwave an additional 10 to 15 seconds, until chips are melted.  Drizzle melted white chocolate over biscotti.

Best served with coffee or tea and a great book!

On hanging on...

Hi!
It's been a while.
How are you doing?

I have been so busy getting the new house in order
but I'm trying to make a little time every day
to enjoy the essence of fall.
I think that our department stores have forgotten
that it is still november.
I am boycotting Christmas until December 1st.
Until then I am hanging on to wonderful autumn.

Isn't it funny that our need to avoid facing and living in the
moment even translates to seasons?
When it's winter we want summer.
When it's summer we want fall.
When it's fall we want Christmas.

For now, I will just be happy exactly where I am.
